Our story

It started with a kettle and a circle of chairs

A few years ago, a small group of women began meeting in a borrowed community room — not to fix anything, but simply to listen to one another. No agenda, no advice, no judgement. Word spread quietly, the way these things do, and more women came. Some to talk, some just to sit in the warmth of company.

Today, Sistershare is still powered by that same gentle idea: that being truly heard can change how a hard week feels. We’re entirely voluntary, led by women with lived experience, and open to every woman aged 18 and over — whoever you are, whatever you’re carrying.

What we believe

The values that hold our circle together

Listening, not fixing

We hold space and listen. We don't diagnose, advise, or try to 'solve' you.

Confidential & safe

What's shared in the circle stays in the circle. Safeguarding is taken seriously.

Peer-led & equal

No hierarchy, no experts on a pedestal — just women supporting women, side by side.

Open to every woman

All backgrounds, all stories, all welcome. Free to attend, with no referral needed.

Why peer-led matters
There's a particular comfort in being understood by someone who has been there too.

Peer-led means our circles are guided by women with real, lived experience — not clinicians, not caseworkers. It keeps things human, equal, and free of the power imbalance that can make asking for help feel hard. You’re never a ‘patient’ here. You’re a person, among people who get it.
